Greg Sands

Head Men’s Coach

Greg Sands is regarded as one of the top division 1 golf coaches in the country. In his 20th season as the head coach of the Red Raiders, Sands has seen his program reach the pinnacle of the national ranking during the 2019-20 season when the men’s team reached #1. There are 16 NCAA regional and 8 NCAA Championships berths, a top ten finish in 2010 and 2018, the program's first two PING All-America First Team honorees in 2006 and 2010. Those are the most visible of the accomplishments Sands has been responsible for since taking over the program in 2001. What falls beneath the radar is Sands' ability to provide his student-athletes with an outstanding education, reflected in in the fact that the team consistently ranks among the top academic programs in the Big 12 Conference. Most recently Sands and his Red Raiders won the Big 12 Match Play Championship along with 2 other events during the COVID shortened 2019-20 season. Currently the Red Raiders are the only team in the country to have 2 players inside the top 10 in the world amateur golf rankings. Sands has also been announced and will serve as the 2021 Arnold Palmer Cup Captain.
