Texas Tech Head Men's Golf Coach Greg Sands and Associate Head Coach Mikkel Bjerch will serve as the 2019 Texas Tech Boys Golf Camp lead instructors. Coach Sands is in his 19th season at TTU and Coach Bjerch is in his 2nd season. The Texas Tech Men's Golf Team is coming off one of the best seasons in program history during 2017-2018, where they reached as high as a #5 National ranking, and made an appearance in the Elite 8 Quarterfinal of the National Championship. The Tech Coaches will surround themselves with other Coaches and/or current student-athletes to help lead this camp.
Head Men’s Coach
Greg Sands has established himself as one of the top young coaches in the country. In 16 seasons as head coach of the Red Raider program, Sands has taken a good program and made it better.
There are 15 NCAA regional and seven NCAA Championships berths, a top ten finish in 2010 and the program's first two PING All-America First Team honorees in 2006 and 2010. Those are the most visible of the accomplishments Sands has been responsible for since taking over the program in 2001. What falls beneath the radar is Sands' ability to provide his student-athletes with an outstanding education, reflected in in the fact that the team consistently ranks among the top academic programs in the Big 12 Conference.
The 15th-straight NCAA Regional Appearance (the longest active streak currently on campus) took the Red Raiders to Albuquerque, N.M., where the young Red Raiders flirted with qualifying for the NCAA Championships before ultimately bowing out in what was a wild finish. Sands also picked up yet another top-three finish at the Big 12 Championships, where three Red Raiders placed in the top-15 individually. Tech also picked up a team tournament win at the El Macero Classic, the 17th team tournament title under Sands.
MEN'S ASSOCIATE HEAD COACH
Mikkel Bjerch-Andresen joined the Texas Tech men's golf staff as its assistant coach on Aug. 11, 2017.
Andresen comes from Stephen F. Austin, where he served as the assistant men's and women's golf coach for the 2016-17 season.
In his lone year on the Stephen F. Austin staff, Andresen helped guide the Lumberjacks to four top-two team finishes, including second place at the Southland Conference Championship. He also helped lead the LadyJacks to six top-five team finishes.
